Thanks to everyone who came to the 11U - 14U open gym and canned food drive yesterday afternoon.  We had a great turnout and collected 240 items to donate to the Salvation Army food bank!  Don't forget that tryouts for these age groups are THIS WEEKEND!  See the schedule below for details...

St. Louis CYC has sent 5 teams to Dallas, TX, to compete in the USAV Junior National Championships.

2013 CYC Junior Nationals T-Shirt

STL CYC Volleyball is proud to have five teams competing in the 2013 USAV Nationals in Dallas, TX and one team attending AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL.

We are once again offering a specially designed t-shirt listing the six CYC teams, the locations, and the year.  This year's shirt color is 'lime' (http://mygildan.com/p/2000/012) with a three color screen.  The design will be posted here as soon as it is available.

STL CYC VBC Clinics - Summer 2013

St. Louis CYC Volleyball Club is pleased to offer several clinics this summer.

'TOTS' ALL SKILLS CLINIC
This clinic is offered to girls 8-10 years of age at the Meyer Youth Center on July 14th and July 28th.

It will focus on the teaching of basic volleyball skills such as forearm passing, attacking, setting, overhand serving, etc.  In addition, we will introduce basic floor defense and blocking.  Skills will be introduced in presentation form, reinforced in drills, and put into play.  The camp will be run by current CYC VBC coaches.  Follow the links below for registration and waiver documents.

SUMMER POSITIONAL TRAINING
The summer positional training clinics are designed for girls entering 6th - 9th grades.  Each clinic will be 1.5 hours and will be held at Meyer Youth Center in Chesterfield on July 14th, July 28th, August 4th, and August 11th.  A minimum of 8 athletes and a maximum of 16 athletes will be registered per clinic.

The goal of the summer positional training clinics is to teach and demonstrate proper technique in each position.  All participants will be instructed on the overall responsibilities of the position and the importance of aggressive serving.

Available clinics include:  Passing & Defensive Boot Camp, Outside Hitter Clinic, Setter Boot Camp, Middle Blocker Clinic.  Follow the links below for registration and waiver documents.

CYC teams shine during recent tournaments

During the recent 2013 Gateway Regional Championships, ALL of our CYC teams were medalists.  The finishes were as follows:

11U - 3rd place

12U - 2nd place

13U - 2nd place

14U - 1st place

15U - 1st place

16U - 1st place

17U - 3rd place

18U - 1st place

In addition, our 12-18U teams competed in the Show Me Qualifier over the past two weekends.  Here are a few finishes to note:

18U  - 1st place in Open (already earned open bid at Crossroads)

14U - 1st place in Open (already earned open bid at Crossroads and MEQ)

13U - 4th place in USA division earning them a bid.

The 1st place finish for 14 green was the THIRD for that team this season!!  They were Open division champions at three national qualifiers, which is the first for any CYC VBC team in our 26-year history.  

Congratulations to all the teams and coaches for a job well done!!

18 Green wins 18 Open at the Show Me National Qualifier

In the final qualifier of their club careers, CYC 18 Green dominated the open division of the Show Me NQ. The team went undefeated on the weekend, dropping only two sets in nine matches.

They faced Invasion 18-Black in the championship match and claimed the gold medal with a victory in two sets (25-22, 25-22).

14 Green Wins 14 Open Gold at MEQ

CYC 14 Green continued their championship ways at the MidEast Qualifier in St. Louis this weekend. The team went undefeated in pool play, dropping only one set throughout the tournament.

They faced Minnesota Select 14-1 in the final match and walked away with another qualifier championship, defeating their opponent in two sets (25-11, 25-6).

14 Green Qualifies at Colorado Crossroads

Congratulations to CYC 14 Green for winning the 14 Open division and earning a bid to the 2013 Junior National Championships at the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier in Denver this past weekend!

The team when undefeated match play, beating Woodlands Wave 14UA in the Gold Championship match (25-21, 25-22).

18 Green Qualifies at Colorado Crossroads

Congratulations to CYC 18 Green for earning an Open bid to the 2013 Junior National Championship this past weekend at the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier in Denver!

The team went 9-2 in match play, losing to ASICS MAVS 18 Blue in the final Gold Bracket to finish 3rd overall in the 18 Open Division.
