STL CYC Volleyball is proud to have five teams competing in the 2012 USAV Nationals in Columbus, OH and two teams attending AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL.

We are once again offering a specially designed t-shirt listing the seven CYC teams, the locations, and the year.  This year's shirt color is 'antique cherry red' with a three color screen.

STL CYC VBC Camps and Clinics - Summer 2012

St. Louis CYC Volleyball Club is pleased to offer several camps and clinics this summer.

ALL SKILLS CAMP
This camp is offered to girls 8-10 years of age at Incarnate Word Academy on July 15th and July 22nd.

It will focus on the teaching of basic volleyball skills such as forearm passing, attacking, setting, overhand serving, etc.  In addition, we will introduce basic floor defense and blocking.  The camp will be run by current CYC VBC coaches.  Follow the links below for registration and waiver documents.

SPECIALTY CLINICS
The summer specialty clinics are designed for girls entering 6th - 9th grades.  Each clinic will be 2 hours and will be held at Gateway Sports Complex in Chesterfield on July 8, July 15, and July 22.  A minimum of 8 athletes and a maximum of 16 athletes will be registered per clinic.

The goal of the specialty clinics is to reinforce proper technique for individual skills with high energy and lots of reps.  All participants will be instructed on the overall responsibilities of the position and the importance of aggressive serving.

Available clinics include:  Passing & Defensive Boot Camp, Outside Hitter Clinic, Setter Boot Camp, Middle Blocker Clinic.  Follow the links below for registration and waiver documents.

Gateway Regional Championships

Once again, CYC VBC had a great showing at the Gateway Regional Championships!  All teams finished in the Gold division and several new Junior National Championship bids were earned!

18 Green:  3rd place (American bid)
17 Green:  1st place (already earned Open bid)
16 Green:  2nd place (National bid)
15 Green:  5th place
14 Green:  4th place
13 Green:  1st place (already earned National bid)
12 Green:  3rd place (American bid)
12 Blue:    5th place
11 Green:  3rd place (no bids awarded in 11U)
11 Blue:    7th place

Gateway Regionals

The Gateway Regionals are being held this weekend (April 28/29) for CYC's 11U teams, and next weekend (May 5/6) for the 12-18U teams.

14 Green and 13 Green medal at the Show Me National Qualifier

Congratulations to CYC 14 Green who played in the championship match of the 14 National Division last weekend at the Show Me NQ in Kansas City.  The team lost a hard fought match in the finals to AP 14 Samurai (17-25, 24-26) and came home with silver medals!

CYC 13 Green had another strong qualifier showing, finishing tied for 3rd out of 65 teams playing in the 13 Club Division and bringing home bronze medals!

Both CYC 12s teams and CYC 15 Green also competed in Kansas City last weekend:
CYC 15 Green placed 9th in a very tough field of 15 Open teams, including 7 teams that had already qualified at other tournaments.

CYC 12 Green finished 15th and CYC 12 Blue finished 23rd out of 39 teams competing in the 12 Club division.

St. Louis Volleyball Community Supports the Luenemann Family

On October 14th, 2011, Joan Luenemann, wife of Washington University head volleyball coach, suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage in her brain. The Luenemanns have strong ties to the community as well as to present and former volleyball players.

A benefit for the Luenemanns has been planned for SATURDAY, APRIL 21st at Washington University's South Campus from 12:30pm - 2:30pm.

There will be an alumni volleyball scrimmage to watch as well as contests, silent auctions (for stuff like Cardinals tickets and use of a condo for the weekend), raffles (for Asics shoes, volleyballs, lottery tickets and MORE), and various baked goods for sale. 

ALL PROFITS will go to helping the Luenemann family pay for Joan's medical expenses.

There is a $5 donation at the door (cash or check ONLY).
